Commencing on January 14, Congress leaders are set to embark on the recently renamed 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.' This extensive journey, spanning 67 days, will see the participation of senior party leaders, including Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, as they traverse from Manipur to Mumbai. The strategic initiative is perceived as a concerted effort to garner support for the party in the lead-up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Party-provided details outline that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, formerly known as the Bharat Nyay Yatra, will traverse through 14 states and 85 districts, spanning the breadth of India from east to west. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is slated to lead the march, and meticulous efforts are underway to finalize the route.
In a meeting held on Thursday, top Congress leaders discussed the party's approach for the impending Lok Sabha elections and the logistical preparations for the extensive yatra from Manipur to Maharashtra.
This second iteration of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, previously conducted between September 2022 and January 2023, is scheduled to transpire from Imphal to Mumbai between January 14 and March 20. The cross-country yatra, spanning from the east to the west of India, signifies the Congress party's endeavor to establish meaningful connections with the public in anticipation of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for April-May.
Kharge, in Thursday's meeting, asserted, "The BJP resorts to emotive issues as a diversion from its government's shortcomings over the past decade. They intentionally implicate Congress in every matter. It is imperative for us to unite and effectively counter the BJP's falsehoods, deception, and misconduct on grassroots issues before the people."
The Congress president commended Rahul Gandhi for his noteworthy initiative, the Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra. He expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi's upcoming Bharat Nyay Yatra from Manipur to Maharashtra will thrust issues of social justice into the focal point of the national discourse.
