In the hallowed halls of the Lok Sabha today, the clash between accountability and humility played out in stark contrast. As the nation grapples with the aftermath of the Hathras stampede tragedy, our leaders find themselves at a crossroads.
The government, with its comfortable majority of 240, seemed impervious to scrutiny. Not a word was uttered about Manipur, a state in turmoil. Denial, it appears, has become a refuge for those in power. Meanwhile, the opposition, numbering 99, was relentless in its interruptions during the Prime Minister's speech. Disruption, not dialogue, seemed to be their chosen path.
But what does the mandate truly demand? The election results spoke loudly: a message of moderation, of humility. The side with 240 seats must remember that it hasn't won 400; restraint and accountability are essential. Conversely, the 99-seat opposition should recognize that they haven't crossed the magical 272 mark. Listening, not shouting, is the need of the hour.
Amidst this political theater, the Hathras death toll continues to climb. Over 87 lives lost in a stampede during a religious congregation. Women, children—innocent lives caught in chaos. Who will wipe the tears of the bereaved families? The answer lies not in blame games or grandstanding but in genuine compassion and swift action.
As the sun sets on another tumultuous day in Parliament, we must reflect on our collective responsibility. An accountable government and a strong opposition—both must rise above ego and serve the people. For the mandate isn't just about numbers; it's about healing hearts and preventing tragedies like Hathras from haunting us again. 🙏🕯️
