Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has officially assumed the role of Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) of the Indian Air Force. He took charge at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) by paying homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice, laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on June 13, 1987. He is a Category 'A' Qualified Flying Instructor with over 4,500 hours of flying experience on various aircraft. His extensive training includes the Defence Services Staff College and the National Defence College.
Throughout his illustrious career, Air Marshal Singh has held several significant field and staff appointments. He has commanded a fighter squadron, a radar station, and a premier fighter base. Additionally, he served as the Air Officer Commanding in Jammu and Kashmir. His varied staff appointments include roles such as Operational Staff at a Command HQ, Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-1) at Air HQ, Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning) at HQ IDS, Air Commodore (Aerospace Safety), Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Offensive), and ACAS Ops (Strategy) at Air HQ.
Prior to his current appointment, Air Marshal Singh was the Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Eastern Air Command in Shillong, Meghalaya. He has been a strong advocate for modernization and self-reliance within the Indian Air Force, overseeing critical aircraft projects and modernization efforts.
In recognition of his meritorious services, Air Marshal Singh has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022 by the President of India.
As the new Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Singh aims to enhance the operational readiness and capabilities of the Indian Air Force. His leadership is expected to drive forward the IAF's modernization initiatives and strengthen its strategic position.
