Sanjay Kumar Jain has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Railway PSU IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation).

 Sanjay Kumar Jain, an Indian Railway Traffic Services (IRTS) Officer of the 1990 batch, has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) with immediate effect. His appointment was approved by the Ministry of Railways on February 8, and he took over the role on February 14, 2024. Before this position, Jain served as the Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Northern Railway. His appointment is on an "immediate absorption basis" in the pay scale of Rs. 1,80,000-3,20,000. Jain will hold this position until his superannuation on December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.



Sanjay Kumar Jain is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and has over three decades of experience in various leadership roles across policy-making, commercial ventures, and developmental ventures within the Government of India and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). His notable positions include Principal Chief Commercial Manager at Northern Railway, Group General Manager (North Zone) at IRCTC, Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai at Central Railway, Joint Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises, and part-time Chairman & CEO of National Land Monetization Corporation Limited. 


Under his tenure, IRCTC's tourism sector in the North Zone expanded by 35 times in five years, and he played a key role in revolutionizing the luxury train Maharajas’ Express through innovative marketing strategies. He also led the introduction of India's first executive lounge at New Delhi Railway Station. His contributions have been recognized with awards from the Ministry of Railways, including being honored twice with the highest award in Indian Railways.
