According to Bloomberg, Oracle is set to eliminate thousands of positions throughout various departments in an effort to address a growing cash shortfall stemming from its bold and escalatingly costly push into AI data centers. These job cuts, potentially starting as soon as this month, would represent the tech giant's most extensive overhaul to date. In a September regulatory filing, Oracle revealed that the initiative might incur expenses of up to $1.6 billion this fiscal year, covering severance and other costs—far exceeding the scale of any prior reductions. The cuts will affect several divisions, including some positions the company views as obsolete due to advancements in AI, based on insights from insiders.
