Bliss is the state of being free from desire for anything. It is Peace which is ever full. How could we gain Bliss from Him? He Himself would require another being to fulfill his desires. But who would think him to be so? The state of self-contentment is that of Bliss.
The three - Being, Consciousness and Bliss-are inseparable; otherwise, they would become naught individually. Hence, He is known as Being-Consciousness-Bliss, Sat-Chit-Ananda. Thus God remains not only transcendent but also falls within the reach of our knowledge as Being-Consciousness-Bliss . For each one of us the height of blissfullness may be different ,
Depending on how much energy and aliveness you generate within yourself, your mean will settle at a higher or lower level. But wherever it settles, it will be a beautiful experience for you.
Every moment is good in its own way, but it takes a withdrawal for you to notice this.Let’s say you are moving around in the morning, making your breakfast, humming without knowing; you simply feel nice – this is blissfulness. Ecstasy is a freaked-out state of pleasantness. You cannot stay there unless you have reached a certain level of energy. There are yogis – they are called avadhutas – who are in such states of ecstasy that they do not even know that they must eat. They do not care to do anything. Someone has to feed them, someone has to take them to the toilet – as if they were completely drugged out. But in today’s world, there is no one to take care of you – you better come down.
Is Ignorance Bliss?
Childhood does have a kind of bliss, indeed. Children do not have the kinds of burdens that adults have—the burdens that come with responsibility and with awareness of the complexities of life. As adults, we have a kind of primal longing to return to that idealized state, a state in which we felt that someone unconditionally met our every need.
Surely there are moments of bliss in early life—and every child should have them. But the truth is that all children—even those with very fortunate beginnings—have a mix of pleasant and painful experiences. Childhood is messy—hunger, hurt, disappointment, and worry are natural and inevitable childhood experiences. In fact, the less awareness one has as a child, the greater the bliss but also the greater the anxiety. Lacking the big picture, you have no idea what is going on. To a baby, waiting a moment for mom can feel like the end of the world! So ignorance has a place in life for a while but we have to grow from inside as we grow as individuals. We have to balance our emotions and feelings to achieve the Bliss.
Only if you are maintaining the balance between ecstasy and sadness, you can maintain your survival instinct, do all the work that you can, and still be pleasant to yourself and to everyone around you, which is important if you want to live in the world. If you are so freaked out in ecstasy that you do not care what happens around, you have to withdraw completely. Such people usually will not last too long – they will die young, but this does not matter – ecstasy serves its own purpose
