Second patient cleared of HIV

A British man has become the second adult in the world to be cleared of HIVfollowing a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a rare genetic mutation. The man, known as the “London patient,” is the second to land in remission after the treatment, following a patient in Berlin a decade ago. Researchers say it is too early to declare the U.K. patient “cured” and the treatment wouldn’t be practical for most people, but could help in ultimately discovering a cure.

This is hopeful. While this is only be a piece of the puzzle, Curious how scientists will leverage their growing knowledge of CCR5 and its impact on HIV treatments in the future.
