Mumbai police issues orders to forbade people from throwing colour-filled balloons at passersby

Mumbai police on Tuesday (March19) issued prohibitory orders for Holi and forbade people from throwing colour-filled balloons at passersby and indulging in obscenity and public nuisance, an official said.

Holi will be celebrated on March 21 and the orders will be in place till midnight of March 22, he said.

The order stated that such acts could create communal tension and breach of public peace.

It asked people to desist from preparation, exhibition or dissemination of pictures, symbols, placards etc which may offend dignity, decency or morality.

With Lok Sabha elections now just weeks away, the political parties across the country have begun burning the midnight oil strategising their plans for the national polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party or the BJP late on Saturday held a meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, to shortlist candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The meeting at the party's headquarters in Delhi that culminated till 2 am on Sunday was held to deliberate on candidates that the party will field in various constituencies in 11 states, according to sources.

In Bihar, the grand alliance led by Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) is likely to announce seat sharing today. The RJD is likely to contest on 20 seats and Congress on 11 of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, reports said.

Cancer Medicines price will drop

NPPA slashed prices of 390 anti-cancer medicines. Some brands with high MRPs likely to see up to 25% cut. The latest list expands the number of brands impacted by the move to 390 from 105 earlier, however, it leaves out brands belonging to seven of the 42 drugs targeted by the regulator.

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) said retail pricing data procured from pharmaceutical companies has shown that maximum retail prices (MRPs) under the price caps will drop for 390 formulations, the falls ranging from 3 per cent to over 80 per cent.

Actress Arzoo Govitrikar who was last seen in Naagin 2 has accused her husband businessman Siddharth Sabharwal of physical assault. The actress filed a complaint at Worli Police Station against Siddharth.

Second patient cleared of HIV

A British man has become the second adult in the world to be cleared of HIVfollowing a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a rare genetic mutation. The man, known as the “London patient,” is the second to land in remission after the treatment, following a patient in Berlin a decade ago. What is Article 35 A?

LIVE! Fire engulfs parking lot near Aero India show, at least 80 cars gutted

A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon near the Aero India 2019 show venue in Bengaluru. The fire started at the parking lot on the other side of Yelahanka Air Force Station.

Several vehicles were gutted in the fire near gate number 5. The fire department gave the estimated number as 80 to 100 cars. According to reports, the incident occurred after the grass caught fire.

A thick blanket of smoke could be covering the parking area. Further details are awaited.
