International musicians are increasingly adding India to their touring schedules, with Backstreet Boys being the latest to announce their return to the country. The group, consisting of Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough, will perform in Mumbai on May 4th at Jio World Garden and on May 5th at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
Backstreet Boys were a massive part of the childhood and teenage years of many Indians in the late 90s and early 2000s. Despite being 30 years into their career, they remain popular in India and other parts of the world. The group last visited India in 2010, when they performed at the Rock 'N India concert series in New Delhi alongside pop-rock artist Richard Marx.
The shows in India are part of Backstreet Boys' DNA World Tour in Asia, which includes stops in other countries like the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Hong Kong, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, and South Africa between March and May 2023. The tour was put on hold in 2020 due to the pandemic, but the group is now making good on their promise to perform around the world starting in 2022.
The concerts are being promoted by BookMyShow and Live Nation. Fans in India can expect a full-blown nostalgia trip, as the group has scaled the charts with songs like "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" from their 2019 album DNA, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2022, they also released their first-ever holiday album, A Very Backstreet Christmas, which further solidified their popularity in the United States.
Despite being known for their late 90s and early 2000s hits, Backstreet Boys continue to attract new fans in India and around the world. Their upcoming concerts in India are sure to be a memorable experience for fans of all ages.
