G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting to be Held in Gurugram; India to Reaffirm Unified Action Towards Zero Tolerance Against Corruption
Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances, stated that India will reaffirm its unified approach to eliminating corruption and heighten the G20's commitments to countering corruption worldwide at the first Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting of G20, taking place in Gurugram, Haryana, from March 1-3. He added that India will strive to mediate between the North and South on contentious issues in spite of the present negative economic outlook. Over 90 delegates from 20 G20 nations, 10 invitee states, and 9 international organisations will join the three-day event and be given the chance to learn about India's culture through yoga, visits to historic sites, cultural events and local food. Since its initiation in 2010, G20 ACWG has been a leader in G20 countries' anti-corruption initiatives, with one chair (Presidency country) and one co-chair country (Italy for G20 ACWG 2023). India, as the ‘mother of democracy’, has the chance to become the voice of the Global South in cooperation with the other 19 countries to hasten global anti-corruption efforts by taking on issues such as money-laundering, asset recovery and beneficial ownership.
