Shri Vishwesh Negi is an officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) of the 2002 batch. He is currently serving as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence under the Ministry of Defence in the Government of India. As Joint Secretary, he is responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of the Ministry's functioning, including policy development, implementation, and decision-making. Prior to this role, Shri Negi has held several positions in the Government of India, including as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India in Tokyo, Japan. He is known for his expertise in areas such as environmental policy, sustainable development, and international relations.
