Kedarnath Yatra 2023: Char Dham's auspicious door-opening ceremony fixed on 25th April, with Baba Kedar's birth sign and protector worship dates revealed
The highly anticipated Kedarnath Yatra is set to commence on 25th April 2023, with the doors of Kedarnath Dham opening at 6:20 am in Mesh Lagna for devotees. The auspicious time and date of opening the portals of Dham at Panch Gaddisthal Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath were determined on the Shivratri festival. According to the chief priest of Kedarnath Dham, Baba Kedar's birth sign is Gemini, which played a vital role in fixing the date and auspicious time of the door-opening ceremony.
It is believed that the journey of Chardham is the journey from devotion to salvation, starting from Yamunotri and concluding at Badrinath Dham after passing through Gangotri and Kedarnath. Kedarpuri's protector, Baba Bhairavnath, will be worshiped at Omkareshwar temple on 20th April, according to Panchang calculations. Baba Kedar's Chal-Vigraha Utsav Doli will leave from Omkareshwar temple for Guptkashi on 21st April, followed by a stop at Phata on 22nd April and a rest at Gaurikund on 23rd April. Finally, the doli will reach Kedarnath Dham on 24th April, where the doors of the Dham will be opened the following day.
The journey to Kedarnath Dham is steeped in mythology and revered as a journey of the soul. As a result, it is suggested that visitors should first visit Kedarnath Dham, followed by a visit to Badrinath Dham, as mentioned in the Kedarkhand of the Skanda Purana. The door-opening ceremony at Kedarnath Dham marks the beginning of the Yatra season, and it is a time of great joy and celebration for devotees worldwide.
