G. Krishnakumar has been designated as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL). Krishnakumar, who is currently an Executive Director at BPCL, has extensive leadership experience in various industries and functional domains during his 36-year tenure with the oil major. He played a key role in BPCL's innovative work to transform the downstream fuel retailing industry in the country.
Krishnakumar is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from NIT (formerly Regional Engineering College), Tiruchirapalli, and holds a Master's degree in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. The company's statement noted that he spearheaded BPCL's customer-focused efforts in convenience retailing and premium fuels, and also introduced new technologies and digital initiatives, a first in the Indian oil industry.
Krishnakumar's contributions to BPCL include the development and management of brands such as Petro Card, SmartFleet, Speed, and In & Out, which have helped to differentiate the company's customer value proposition in the marketplace and reinforce its "Pure for Sure" customer promise.
