Google has officially confirmed that its first screenless fitness tracker, the Fitbit Air, will launch in India in October 2026. The announcement came during the company’s Pixel 11 series India event briefing on August 13, 2026, ending months of speculation and grey-market demand for the device.

What is the Fitbit Air?

Unveiled globally in May 2026, the Fitbit Air takes a minimalist approach by completely removing the display. Instead of showing notifications, steps, or workouts on a screen, it focuses purely on passive, 24/7 health tracking and background data collection. All insights appear in the Google Health app (the rebranded Fitbit app).

Key features include:

  • Continuous heart-rate monitoring
  • Blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking
  • Sleep stage and duration analysis
  • Heart rhythm monitoring with AFib alerts
  • Heart rate variability (HRV) tracking
  • Up to 7 days of battery life
  • 50-metre water resistance
  • Ultra-lightweight design with interchangeable bands (including the Performance Loop)

The device is designed for distraction-free wear and works with Google’s Gemini-powered Health Coach for personalised insights (available via Google Health Premium subscription).

Pricing and Availability

Google has not yet announced official India pricing, colour options, exact launch date, or retail channels. In the US, the Fitbit Air retails at $99.99 (approximately ₹8,800–9,500). Grey-market listings on Amazon India have appeared in the ₹17,000–18,500 range, though these are not official prices and may not reflect the final MRP.

The tracker has already received BIS certification, clearing the path for an official retail launch. More details on pricing and availability are expected closer to the October rollout.

Why It Matters for India

India has seen strong interest in screenless trackers (popularised by devices like Whoop). The Fitbit Air’s official arrival will give buyers local warranty support and end reliance on grey-market imports. It also strengthens Google’s growing health and wearables push in the country, following the rebrand of the Fitbit app to Google Health and the introduction of the AI Health Coach earlier this year.
