Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena was detained in connection with a ₹ 1,000 crore ( $1 billion ) scam involving the Patra Chawl Redevelopment Project, according to the Enforcement Directorate. The agency has claimed that the family has benifitted from 83 lakh to 1.06 crore  He has also been charged by the ED for  threatening to rape and kill a crucial witness in the Alibaug property deal.

According to reports, the woman, Swapna Patkar, complained on July 22. According to Press Trust of India, the woman said that the rape and murder threat was written on a piece of paper and placed inside a newspaper that was delivered to her on July 15.
