India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Describes India-China Relations as 'Abnormal' in Meeting with Chinese Counterpart


 

During a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers conclave on Thursday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed to his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang that the state of India-China relations is "abnormal". The focus of their talks was to address the challenges in the bilateral ties, particularly regarding peace and tranquillity in the border areas. This was Jaishankar's first in-person meeting with Qin since he took over as Chinese foreign minister in December, succeeding Wang Yi. Jaishankar stated that the bulk of their conversation was centered on the current state of their relationship, which he had previously described as abnormal. They conversed for approximately 45 minutes before speaking to reporters.
