Here is some food for thought on Prime Minister’s security

The PM’s travel plans are laid out as per the SPG’s blue book. Everything from a contingency route to a safe house (just in case the PM has to be evacuated) is discussed by the PM’s Advanced Security Liasion comprising SPG, IB and state police.
The ASL is then published as a booklet which can be at least 200 pages thick!
Questions that the @PMO /SPG need to answer. Was it not known that the weather would be inclement. Werent inputs taken from the met department at least 48 hours in advance as per the Blue Book.
If the weather turned inclement and a chopper ride to the venue was not possible, then was the contingency route not decided as per the ASL? Was this contingency route the one the PM took. The 111 km takes about 2 hours to cover.
Did the SPG really allow the premier to travel on an unsanitised route for two hours without security clearance? As per the blue book, the SPG doesn’t move till the state police concerned gives the go ahead that the entire route is sanitized.
So if the SPG decided to travel by road, it was as per plan. If not, the SPG chief needs to be sacked. If the state DGP gave clearance that the route had been sanitized when it wasnt, he needs to put in his papers for deliberately misleading the SPG.
The BJP says the protestors (seen waving BJP flags) were BJP workers who came to the scene AFTER the PM’s cavalcade made a U turn. How were civilians allowed on a sanitized route and that too with tempos and buses when the PM was still in line of sight.

The cavalcade includes a warning car and a pilot car. Wouldn’t the first car have noticed a crowd and alerted the convoy. So how did the cavalcade stop so close to the protestors some 20 metres apart. Should the SPG not have made an immediate U turn instead of waiting 20 mins?
The PM, says @ANI, told airport officials he was glad to return in one piece. If his life was in danger, then the SPG has to answer. Providing inner cordon security to the protectee is the job solely of the SPG.

Even while stranded on the bridge for 20 minutes, the Close Protection Team of the SPG was on either side of the PM’s car and not in the front where the cameras were recording and the protestors were.

Punjab is a border state and the Hussainiwala Martyrs Memorial where the PM was headed is located 1 km from the Pak border.
