Pictures of Sahil Gehlot, the accused in the Nikki Yadav murder case, getting married have been going viral on social media. Gehlot is the alleged murderer of 22-year-old Nikki Yadav, who was shot dead in Ghaziabad on 8 June this year. The pictures of Gehlot's marriage were circulated on social media a few days ago, with many users expressing shock that the murderer was allowed to get married in jail. Gehlot is currently lodged in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad.
Sahil Gehlot, a resident of Mitraon village in Baba Hardas Nagar, Delhi, and Nikki, from Jhajjar, Haryana, had a fateful meeting in 2018. The two met at a coaching center in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, where Sahil Gehlot was studying for SSC exams. Nikki was also attending the Aakash Institute in Uttam Nagar, preparing for medical entrance exams. They became friends, rode the same bus daily to their respective institutes, and soon fell in love. They started meeting before and after classes, and by February 2018, Sahil had enrolled in D. Pharma at Galgotia College, Greater Noida, and Nikki in BA (English Honours) in the same college. The couple rented a house in Greater Noida and started living together. They traveled to different places like Manali, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun, and grew very close to each other. It was later revealed by the police that Nikki and Sahil had been living together.
The couple had reunited and rented a house in Dwarka area after returning to their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. The accused, Sahil Gehlot, did not inform his family members about his relationship with Nikki, as his family was pressurizing him to marry another girl. Despite this pressure, Sahil and Nikki continued to live together, and the accused kept his engagement a secret from Nikki. However, she eventually found out about his plans to marry another girl and confronted him. A heated argument ensued between the two, and the accused strangled Nikki with the data cable of his mobile phone, which he had kept in his car. He then placed her dead body in a refrigerator at his dhaba. Subsequently, Gehlot returned to his home and cancelled his planned marriage with the other woman. The accused later led the police to Nikki's body, which was found in the fridge.
