Who is Hamish Harding?

 

Hamish Harding was a British businessman, pilot, explorer, adventurer and space tourist based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was the founder of Action Group and was chairman of Action Aviation, an international aircraft brokerage company with headquarters in Dubai, UAE.

Harding was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1964. He attended the University of Cambridge, where he studied engineering. After graduating, he worked as a commercial pilot for several years. In 1997, he founded Action Group, a company that provides aviation services to businesses and individuals.

Harding was a passionate adventurer and explorer. He visited the South Pole several times, descended into the Mariana Trench, and broke a Guinness World Record for circumnavigation of the Earth by aircraft over both geographic poles. In 2021, he traveled into space on a Blue Origin suborbital flight.

Harding died on June 18, 2023, at the age of 58. He was one of five people who died when a submersible imploded while en route to view the wreck of the Titanic.
