Y. S. Sharmila is an Indian politician and the founder of the YSR Telangana Party. She is the younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. She previously worked as the party convener for the YSR Congress Party.
On 4 January 2024, she joined the Indian National Congress and merged her YSR Telangana Party with it. She said that joining the Congress was her father's dream and that she supports Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister candidate. She also stated that she had political differences with her brother and that there was no presence of the YSR Congress Party in Telangana.
She has been involved in various political campaigns and controversies, such as her 3,000 km-walkathon in Andhra Pradesh, her bus Yatra across Andhra Pradesh, her remarks against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in Telangana, and the rumours of her relationship with actor Prabhas.
