New Delhi, July 16, 2025 – In a significant bureaucratic overhaul, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has announced the appointment of 24 senior officers, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Indian Economic Service (IES), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers, to key positions across various ministries. The reshuffle, aimed at bolstering administrative efficiency, includes private secretaries to Union Ministers and joint secretaries in critical sectors like finance, defence, and social justice.
Strategic Appointments Across Ministries
The ACC has appointed Vishal Gupta (IAS: GJ: 2012) as Private Secretary to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Ministry of Culture) and Yogendra Singh (IAS: BH: 2013) as Private Secretary to Union Minister Giriraj Singh (Ministry of Textiles), each for a tenure of five years. These appointments reflect the government’s focus on aligning trusted officers with key ministerial portfolios to drive policy implementation.
At the joint secretary level, Vyasan R (IAS: NL: 2007) has been named Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, while Smita Srivastava (IRSEE: 1997) will serve as Joint Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, until July 29, 2025. Milind Dharmrao Ramteke (IAS: TR: 2009), known for his work in urban development, has been appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, for a tenure up to January 7, 2026. Parveen Kumar Thind (IAS: PB: 2007) and Latha Ganapathy (IAS: TN: 2007) will take charge as Joint Secretaries in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, strengthening efforts in social welfare.
Other notable appointments include Krishna Kumar Nirala (IAS: GJ: 2005) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ashutosh A T Pednekar (IAS: RJ: 2002) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Nidhi Kesarwani (IAS: MN: 2004) will serve as Joint Secretary, Department of Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, while Daya Nidhan Pandey (IAS: BH: 2006) has been appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel.
In technology and defence, Amod Kumar (IAS: UP: 1995) and Ajit Kumar (IAS: KL: 2006) will serve as Joint Secretaries in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Meera Mohanty (IAS: HP: 2005) and Manisha Chandra (IAS: GJ: 2004) will take up roles as Joint Secretaries in the Department of Defence Production. Raman Kumar (IAS: BH: 2009) has been appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, and Sanjeev Chopra (IAS: OR: 1990) will serve as Secretary (Additional Charge), Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
Further appointments include Anbalagan P (IAS: CG: 2004) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Muthukumarasamy B (IAS: UP: 2007) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Ishita Ganguli Tripathy (IES: 1999) as Joint Secretary and Additional Financial Advisor, Ministry of Defence; Sandeep Raj (IRS: IT: 1998) as Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor, Department of Atomic Energy; Alarmelmangai D (IAS: CG: 2004) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; and P.S. Kar kthigeyan (IFS: 2004) as Joint Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy.
