RBI introduces new chocolate brown ten rupee note

The Reserve Bank of India on Friday introduced a brand new chocolate brown coloured ten rupee note. Check out the details right here.The new note remains same in height of 63mm as the current ten rupee note, however, its width will be 123 mm, slightly less than the 137 mm width of the old note.

The reverse of the note will bear a motif of the Konark Sun Temple, which is another striking feature. The image of fauna of India – rhinoceros, elephant and tiger are imprinted on the existing ten rupee note.

The new note bearing the signature of Reserve Bank of India governor Urjit Patel will be put into circulation shortly, the RBI said in a press release.

RBI Soon To Issue New Rs 1 Notes

The Reserve Bank of India/RBI has announced the issue of new one rupee notes. However, the current notes and coins in circulation will also continue. These currency notes will be a legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011.

The government’s demonetisation policy was implemented last November, removing the circulation of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes and issuing of new Rs.500 and Rs.2000 notes. These new one rupee notes have already been printed by the government. It is made of 100% (cotton) rag content wherein the thickness is 110 microns

RBI appoints Malvika Sinha as new Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Ms. Malvika Sinha as Executive Director (ED) consequent upon the appointment of Mr. B P Kanungo as Deputy Governor yesterday. Ms. Sinha took charge of her new position yesterday, a press release from the central bank said. As Executive Director, Ms. Sinha will look after Foreign Exchange Department, Department of Government and Bank Accounts and Internal Debt Management Department. Ms. Sinha holds a Master's Degree from University of Bombay and has done her Master's in Public Administration. She is also a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. She joined RBI in 1982 and as a career central banker served in the areas of regulation and supervision, foreign exchange and Government and Bank Accounts in the Bank. Prior to being promoted as ED, she was Principal Chief General Manager, Department of Co-operative Banking Supervision in the Reserve Bank.
