iPhone 6c unlikely to be out on Sep 9

According to media reports, Apple Inc is unlikely to unveil its iPhone 6c at its much-awaited September 9 event. While the Tim Cook-led company has been working on a new four-inch iPhone with the capabilities of last year’s iPhone 6, the device is not yet ready to ship.

However, Apple is expected to launch other two next-generation phones — iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus — on September 9. It has started sending invites to media houses for the event to be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. The event image reads: “Hey Siri, give us a hint.”

A report by 9To5Mac says: “Apple has internally prototyped a new, smaller iPhone with a 3.5-inch display, the same size of the iPhone’s screen from the first model in 2007 to the iPhone 4S in 2011, but it does not appear the company plans to move forward with actually releasing such a device.”

The report also says that the company plans to discontinue iPhone 5c but the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus sales will continue. Besid…

Why is Coorg (Karnataka) known as the "Scotland of India?"

It was the British Planter community who had affectionately coined the term ‘The Scotland of India’ for Coorg. Most of the planters were Scots and the uncanny similarities between both places earned Coorg that nickname. Also like Scotland, Coorg is mountainous, misty and cool. The highlands and the vast meadowlands of both places look almost identical. The two also had local brews they felt strongly about.

On the cultural front, both Coorg and Scotland had clan based societies, where both clans warred with each other constantly in the earlier days. Arms were an integral part of their costumes and each valued its independence equally. The Scots kept dirks (short daggers), while the Coorgs had their peechekathis (carved daggers).

One can see tons of lush green and breathtaking sights in Coorg!

What are the best places to stay in Goa?

Best Time:

October to March - This is the IN season in Goa. The place is flocked by oversees tourists as well as Indians. The prices for everything from rental bikes to hotels to flight tickets soar during this time. But this is the time you get to experience the Goa as it is known. The days are pretty hot so a good time to be at the beach and better to be in the water at the beach. The water sports are in full swing during this time at most of the beaches in Goa. The night time is a carnival of sorts with lights, music, booze, tourists and more booze all around you. The night goes on till early morning at most of the places.

April to September - This is OFF season. The prices go down, the tourist is mostly local, half the places are shut, some of the beaches are forbidden to take a swim in, overall its relatively calm. Relatively calm in Goa is still happening than most other places in the country. And once it starts raining, it might not stop for a few days or weeks or months. Rain…

Sundar Pichai rises from IIT student to new Google CEO

One of Sundar Pichai’s clearest memories of growing up in Chennai involves picking up the results of a blood test for one of his parents. It was the early 1980s, and though the family lived in a middle-class neighbourhood, they didn’t have a telephone, automobile or television. There was no way to get the results other than retrieve them in person.

Pichai had to take a city bus two-and-a-half hours across town to the hospital and wait in a long line. When the results weren’t ready, he returned home empty-handed. In the US, “technology happens so fast, change is more continuous for people and sometimes they don’t internalize it,” he said in a Bloomberg Businessweek interview in 2014. “For me, it happened in these discrete moments.”

From that relatively hard-scrabble upbringing (his family got around by piling onto a Lambretta scooter,) Pichai attended the Indian Institute of Technology, won a scholarship to Stanford University, worked at the early Silicon Valley blue chip Applied Materi…
