Congress MLA's 'Blackmailer' in judicial custody

BHOPAL: According to a report published by Times of India, a journalism student, who was caught by crime branch sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly blackmailing Congress MLA Hemant Katare, was produced in the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Prakash Uike and sent to jail on judicial custody. Hemant Katare is elder Son of  Late Shri. Satyadev Katare who was a senior politican.

The accused was caught while accepting Rs 5 lakh from the Congress MLA who she was allegedly blackmailing, claiming she had his 'objectionable' video which she would make viral, if he failed to concede her demands. She was demanding Rs 2 crore from Katare, who lodged a complaint with the police.

Crime branch of Bhopal police laid a trap and caught her while she was taking Rs five lakh from the Congress legislator on Wednesday. Her male accomplice is still absconding.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday nabbed an official of the Bank Note Press of RBI at Dewas in Madhya Pradesh for stealing currency notes worth Rs 90 lakh from the Press. The nabbed official Manohar Verma, Deputy Control Officer, was posted at the Note Verification Section of Bank Note Press.

On Friday, the CISF duty personnel deployed at NVF noticed that Verma was hiding some item discreetly in one of the empty wooden boxes lying in the corridor. On suspicion, the CISF personnel kept him under observation and informed the matter to their superiors who rushed to the spot, a CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.

Verma was physically searched following which two bundles of currency notes in the denomination of Rs 200 were recovered concealed inside his shoes. Thereafter, a thorough search at his office was also carried out by CISF in presence of Senior Officers of BNP, Dewas.Verma was in the Officer category and as per procedure in vogue, the clothes and shoes of officers are not removed during checking while going out of the premises of high security zone of Bank Note Press.

The Police registered a case against Verma. As part of investigation, the Police searched his residence and recovered currency worth Rs 64.50 lakh.

PJ Irene Cynthia will be awarded for effective work of stand up India.

Also Collector Jabalpur will be awarded for innovation integrated solid waste management and generation of power from waste.
